On January 26, 2018, at the invitation of the National Assembly's Advisory Working Group on Population Growth and Reproductive Health, UNFPA, the United Nations reproductive health and rights agency, participated in a working meeting on abortions and sex selective abortions in Armenia. Representatives of different factions of the NA were present at the discussion. The discussion was chaired by the working group leader and parliament member Margarit Yesayan, who welcomed the participants. 

The Garik Hayrapetyan, UNFPA Armenia Assistant Representative, presented statistical data and current issues on abortions and sex selective abortions in Armenia. Karine Saribekyan, Head of the Department of Mother and Child Health Protection of the Ministry of Health, described the legislative regulations related to the issues. The speakers then answered the MPs' questions.
