On 11 July 2019, World Population Day, UNFPA Armenia team together with Shombi Sharp, UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia climbed Aragats Mountain and raised the the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) flag at the altitude of four thousand meters, launching the "Elevate ICPD" challenge.

This was to mark the 25th anniversary of the ICPD held in Cairo, and the upcoming summit Nairobi Summit on ICPD25 that aims to mobilize the political will and financial commitments to finally and fully implement the Programme of Action adopted by ICPD in 1994.

The Summit will re-energize the global community, bringing an unusually broad coalition of people together to breathe new life into the ICPD agenda. It will be a springboard for governments, businesses, foundations and other organizations to announce voluntary commitments at the global, national and local levels to accelerate progress.

This Summit is a unique opportunity to help lift up women and girls, their families and communities, and create a better world with rights and choices for all.
