WE ARE HERE: A qualitative rapid assessment of Gender-Based Violence among refugees in Armenia
The assessment focuses on GBV trends and risks among refugee population in Armenia, following the influx of over 100,000 people from Karabakh to Armenia in September 2023. Through consulting 142 respondents (service providers, refuge women and refugee adolescent girls), it aims to map key needs of the GBV survivors and women and girls at risk of GBV, as well as the gaps in existing services necessary to address these needs. The data collection took place in November and December 2023, targeting the respondents in Yerevan and all marzes of RA.
100 Years Later Play
100 YEARS LATER play and staging were developed within the framework of “The Prominent Armenian Women for Women Empowerment” campaign conducted by OxYGen and UNFPA in partnership with Nairyan Vocal Ensemble of the Mughdusian Art Center within the framework of the “Addressing Gender-Biased Sex Selection and Related Harmful Practices in the South Caucasus: Support for Regional, National and South–South Interventions” programme, initiated a theatrical performance showcasing 5 prominent Armenian public figures of the 20th century and their role in women empowerment and fighting discrimination. Actresses present MPs from the Parliament of the First Republic of Armenia: Varvara-Varya Sahakyan, Katarine Zalyan-Manukyan, Perchuhi Partizpanyan-Barseghyan and famous public figures Zabel Yesayan and Shushanik Kurginyan.

UNFPA Refugee Response in Armenia Situation Report #3
Over half of 101,848 refugees are women and girls. UNFPA estimates that 2,070 women are currently pregnant, and 1,380 will give birth within the next 6 months.
UNFPA distributed 5,680 additional dignity kits and is supporting two safe spaces for women and girls to access reproductive health care and other specialized support. UNFPA is also supporting the training of healthcare providers, including doctors, midwives, and nurses.
UNFPA Refugee Response in Armenia Situation Report #2
In the last week of September 2023, refugees began arriving rapidly in Armenia following renewed hostilities in Karabakh. As of 12 October, an estimated 101,848 refugees had crossed the border, and more than 99.3 % of them had been registered by the authorities.
More than half of them are reported to be women and girls; an estimated 2,070 women are currently pregnant, 54 have given birth since arriving in Armenia, and an estimated 1,380 will give birth in the coming 6 months. 31% of refugees are reported to be under 18 years old, and around 18% are reported to be older people.
The government of Armenia and UN agencies, including UNFPA, are currently implementing a rapid needs assessment that will help all service providers tailor the emergency response based on their specific needs.

The Guidebook for the Training of Trainers (TOT) Course facilitators is an integral part of the Educational Handbook on “Preventing Gender-Biased Sex Selection by Creating a More Responsible Attitude of Medical Workers and Improving their Counseling Skills”. The Guidebook is intended for the facilitators/trainers as a landmark for the course facilitation activities. The main section of the Guidebook consists of instructions and guidance to conduct twenty (20) theoretical and practical lessons presented under the scope of three (3) thematic Modules.This Guidebook for the TOT Course facilitators was approved and certifi ed by the Education- Methodological Council of the MOH RA National Institute of Health CJSC named after academician S. Avdalbekyan.

This educational handbook on “Preventing Gender-biased Sex Selection by Creating a More Responsible Attitude of Medical Workers and Improving their Counselling Skills” was developed by a team of experts of the National Institute of Health named after academician Suren Avdalbekyan CJSC managed by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia (from now on will be referred to also as the Armenia National Institute of Health). It was developed within the framework of the “Addressing Gender Biased Sex Selection and Related Harmful Practices in the South Caucasus: Support for Regional, National and South-South Interventions” project implemented by the UNFPA in partnership with the OxYGen Foundation. The Project is funded by the European Union and UNFPA.

“Advocacy Needs Assessment of Organizations defending the Interests of Persons with Disabilities ” research was conducted by Disability Rights Agenda NGO within the framework of “Creating enabling environment and ecosystem for implementation of Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities and disability mainstreaming in Armenia” programme of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
