On December 15-16, 2018, Yerevan Engineering City hosted the “Geeks against GBV” Hackathon.

The hackathon was initiated by the Enterprise Incubator Foundation and the Center for Innovative Solutions and Technologies, with the support of the World Bank Group, the Sexual Violence Research Initiative and the UNFPA Armenia Country Office.

The hackathon was attended by experts in the field of technology and experts in the field of gender-based violence, who worked together for 24 hours to create mobile apps to help overcoming gender-based violence.

Authors of the best solutions received prizes of 1,000,000 AMD.

UNFPA Armenia was also included in the jury, gave preference to the Talisman project by Aratta team, which envisages making micro alarm systems in the form of various decorations and pieces of jewelry.

The selected top three teams were Support.am, Iterate and Aratta.

Triple E and Raya + Ani teams have been awarded a conditional prize, but they still have to work and improve their ideas, and develop prototypes. 

The hackathon was a follow-up step to the "16 Days against Gender Violence" campaign (November 25 to December 10) aimed at raising awareness of and preventing gender-based violence.
