On October 17, 2017, UNFPA launched its 2017 State of World Population report. UNFPA Armenia presented the report at a press conference held at "Article 3" club in Yerevan. Garik Hayrapetyan, UNFPA Armenia Assistant Representative spoke at the press conference.
The report is titled “Worlds Apart: Reproductive Health and Rights in an Age of Inequality.” According to the report, unchecked inequality, failure to protect the rights of poorest women could threaten unrest, undermine peace and world’s development goals. The costs of inequalities, including in sexual and reproductive health and rights, could extend to the entire global community’s goals.
"This is a great achievement for the country", Mr. Hayrapetyan said.
Among a number of topices, he also spoke about the gap between the wages of men and women worldwide. "In Armenia, the difference is around 36 per cent. In Eeastern Europe and Central Asia region, the situation is the best in Slovenia, the worst - in Turkey," he added.
