UNFPA Armenia and the Body Shop are joining their efforts for youth leadership and women empowerment in Armenia

On July 14 a memorandum of understanding was signed between the UNFPA Armenia and GEPHA JSC – a franchisee of the BODY SHOP IL aiming at promoting youth leadership and participation in Armenia. The collaboration will complement the partnership established in May 2022 between Office of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth and The Body Shop aimed at tackling barriers preventing youth participation through the global «Be Seen Be Heard» campaign to amplify youth voices in public life.

In Armenia, the Body Shop will partner with UNFPA to ensure the effectiveness of the campaign. Within the frameworks of the campaign different interventions will be conducted in the following areas:

- promotion of youth participation within the framework of International Youth Day

- improving young people’s leadership skills

- promoting youth-led initiatives through different events, contests, challenges

- supporting community development youth initiatives

UNFPA Armenia will collaborate with the Body Shop also  supporting achievement of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in Armenia. The cooperation aims at joining resources for:  

- promoting gender equality and women’s rights

- creating economic opportunities for women in rural areas and/or small communities

- supporting women lead local initiatives, including business, civil and others

- promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights

- implementation of awareness raising campaigns aiming at fighting against discrimination against women, prevention of gender based violence
