On December 9, 2012, “Theatre for Changes” Forum Theatre and UNFPA Armenia presented a new interactive theatre play, “The Unprecedented Rainbow Case” devoted to son preference in Armenia.

The play was performed in the Theatre after Henrik Malyan (Yerevan, 18 Vardanants St.), within the framework of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence 2012 campaign in Armenia.

The interactive performance explores the aspects of gender inequality in Armenia. The target audience of the performance was mainly young people from different backgrounds aged 18-26; however the fully booked premiere was attended by people of various age groups.

The play was based on the screenplay by Karine Khodikyan, well-known Armenian playwright, that won the theatre play contest devoted to son preference in Armenia, “Who you’d better be in Armenia – a boy, or a girl?”, announced by UNFPA Armenia earlier this year.
