On 2-6 of June, 2014, training courses on the basics of demography were conducted for a group of country's civil servants and journalists, with support from UNFPA Armenia and in cooperation with the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. The courses were conducted by Mr. Gagik Yeganyan, Ph.D., an expert demographer.

The courses included topics such as the object and method of demography, sources of demographic information, population structure and dynamics, as well as such hot topics for Armenia as fertility, aging, migration, etc.

The courses allowed the almost 40 participants to build an understanding of the main demographic concepts and phenomena, which will allow them to mainstream those into their working practices. For journalists it was an important effort which will feed and improve their future work covering population and development issues.

At the end of the courses the civil servants and journalists received certificates of participation signed by Mr. Arayik Petrosyan, First Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, and Mr. Garik Hayrapetyan, UNFPA Armenia Assistant Representative.
