We have launched a new course for expectant mothers, which will provide psychological support and, we hope, will make the entire process of pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period peaceful, harmonious and happy.
About two dozen meetings, conducted by specially trained prenatal psychologists from Michel Oden Mother Center, started in June of this year and will last until the end of October.
They address many issues, such as the psychological nuances specific to pregnancy, the mother-fetus psycho-emotional connection, the fear of childbirth and ways to overcome it, the relationship between spouses during pregnancy, the ways to overcome the postpartum crisis, etc.
Pregnant women attending the female consultations of the "Akhuryan Maternal and Child Health Center", St. Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center, Gyumri Maternity Hospital are involved in the course.
As a result, mothers-to-be will have knowledge about all stages of the perinatal period and gain important practical skills to understand their own state of mind, regulate emotions, interpersonal relationships, and approach birth with awareness, preparedness, and cope with natural emotional fluctuations for the postpartum and breastfeeding period.
Last year, on the occasion of the World Mental Health Day, joining the World Health Organization, we organized a meeting for pregnant women, which was conducted by a prenatal psychologist. The feedback was very positive and the women greatly valued such meetings, which was the basis for us to initiate this course.
