On 24 May 2013, UNFPA Armenia met with around 50 representatives of 29 Armenian Youth NGOs at the UN House in Yerevan, Armenia.

The purpose of the meeting was to give an opportunity to youth organizations to learn about UNFPA activities and, most importantly, issues on which UNFPA is working in Armenia: in particular, fertility decline, infertility, migration, aging, as well as gender equality, maternal health and youth issues, including employment, sexual and reproductive health of young people. In addition, the meeting discussed the problem of prenatal sex selection and son preference in the country.

Mr. Garik Hayrapetyan, UNFPA Armenia Assistant Representative, and Ms. Maria Dotsenko, UNDPI Armenia Representative, greeted the participants. The meeting then was led by Mr. Mher Manukyan, UNFPA Armenia Communications Assistant, Mr. Samvel Mkhitaryan, UNFPA Armenia youth activities' coordinator, and Mr. Tigran Shadunts, head of "Serund" NGO.

The meeting was organized within the framework of “UN 4 You(th) - You(th) 4 UN” initiative, by the UN Department of Public Information (UNDPI) and “Serund Pan-Armenian Youth Center”.
