UNFPA Armenia hosted the next meeting of the Armenian Network for Protection of Older Persons.

Tsovinar Harutyunyan, UNFPA Armenia Head of Office, welcomed the members of the network and thanked them for their participation.

The coordination body of the Network in 2023 is UNFPA Armenia.

The work of the Network is of great importance, considering that the share of the older persons in the population of Armenia is continuously growing and will continue to grow.

During the meeting, the Head of the Elderly Issues Divison of the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs presented the latest legislative amendments related to the sector to the members of the network.

A number of important agreements were reached on the next steps, including with the relevant structures and stakeholders in order to find inclusive and effective solutions to existing issues.

The network also approved the membership applications of three new members: WINNET Goris, Armavir Development Center and "Cooperation Arch" NGO.

The meeting was supported by CISPop “Better Data for Better Policies” regional project supported by the Russian Federation to strengthen population data collection, analysis and utilization for evidence-based policy-making in the CIS region.
