On March 4, 2016, UNFPA Armenia participated in parliamentary hearings organized by the Parliament standing committees on Health, Motherhood and Childhood, and Social Issues, devoted to the 2016-2018 National Program to Improve RA Demographic Situation and Program of Actions to Ensure its Implementation. The hearings were attended by Parliament Members, representatives of RA Ministries of Health and Labour and Social Affairs, as well as civil society organizations. 

The aim of the Program is to reduce negative demographic trends and creation of necessary preconditions for improvement of the situation through comprehensive evaluation of the demographic situation and implementation of well-targeted measures. 

Garik Hayrapetyan, UNFPA Armenia Assistant Representative, mentioned that the Program targets fertility issues. He pointed out the importance of reproductive health in this context and the vital role of public awareness about the Program.
