In our times, for virtually any public institution, media relations can play a very important role, whether we talk about a government institution, a civil society organization or a business. From this viewpoint, an understanding that all members of an organization should be communicators rather than only designated media focal points gains more and more popularity.
In this context, taking into account the request from the Ministry of Labor and social Affairs of Armenia, UNFPA Armenia supported organization of a media relations training course for the Ministry officials.
The training took place on April 18-19, 2017. Ten officials from different departments and divisions of the Ministry participated in the training course titled "How to work effectively with the media".
Media Initiatives Center, UNFPA Armenia’s long-time partner, conducted the training course.
The course included topics such as modalities of working with the media; how to prepare for contacts with journalists; how to talk to the media in an understandable language and clear messages; difficulties and challenges when communicating with reporters; how to prepare for meetings with journalists; et cetera.
The participants also did practical role-playing exercises in the form of short interviews in different formats and journalistic styles.
All the participants received certificates of participation.
